Cocaine Rehab in Louisville

Cocaine addiction is a devastating and far-reaching problem. People who develop cocaine dependence lose the ability to control their cocaine use. They continue using cocaine despite a range of personal consequences, from compromised health and financial problems to ruined relationships. Cocaine rehab in Louisville may be the solution you have been searching for. If you or someone you love has been using cocaine and has had a difficult time quitting or stopping without help, Louisville Addiction Center is available.

We have developed an effective outpatient treatment program for those struggling with cocaine addiction. We offer three distinct levels of clinical care, including partial hospitalization (PHP), intensive outpatient treatment (IOP), and outpatient treatment (OP). Our Louisville cocaine addiction treatment program is flexible and provides clients with the resources and services they need to begin living a life in recovery. What is Cocaine?

Cocaine is a powerful stimulant drug with a high potential for misuse and dependence. The drug is most commonly found in the form of a white, crystalline powder. In its powdered form, people ingest cocaine nasally or orally. Powdered cocaine is sometimes melted down into a liquid and used intravenously (injected directly into the bloodstream). Cocaine base, or crack cocaine, looks like small white rocks. Crack cocaine is typically smoked.

Cocaine tolerance typically builds rapidly, leading to repetitive use and the eventual development of physical and psychological dependence. Once a person becomes physically dependent on cocaine, professional intervention becomes necessary. The best treatment options for an individual depend on several factors including:

  • The severity of the cocaine use disorder.
  • The presence of any co-occurring or dual-diagnosis disorders.
  • The length of time the person has been using cocaine.
  • Whether or not a person is combining cocaine with other substances.
  • The method of cocaine ingestion (nasally, orally, intravenously).

Cocaine is a Schedule II chemical substance under the federal government, meaning that it has a high potential for misuse. Fortunately, the majority of associated consequences are reversible so long as a person maintains prolonged abstinence. To learn more about overcoming cocaine dependence, contact us today.

Cocaine Facts & Statistics

The National Institute on Drug Abuse reports, “Among people aged 12 or older in 2021, 1.7% (or about 4.8 million people) reported using cocaine in the past 12 months. Among people aged 12 or older in 2021, 0.5% (or about 1.4 million people) had a cocaine use disorder in the past 12 months.” During the same year, approximately 24,486 people died from an overdose involving cocaine. While rates of cocaine addiction have remained relatively stable over the past decade, thousands of people across the country are being negatively impacted by cocaine use on a daily basis.

Cocaine Addiction Symptoms

The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition, or DSM-V outlines the symptoms of cocaine use disorders. Cocaine use disorders range in severity from mild or moderate to severe. The most effective treatment for cocaine addiction depends heavily on the severity of the individual’s cocaine use disorder.

Symptoms of cocaine dependence include:

  • A person uses more cocaine than intended for a longer period of time than intended.
  • Interpersonal relationships have become strained because of cocaine use.
  • A person has attempted to cut back or quit on their own with limited success.
  • A person engages in risk-taking behaviors like combining cocaine with other chemical substances (opioids, alcohol) or driving under the influence.
  • A person experiences intense cravings for cocaine throughout the day.
  • A person neglects responsibilities at home and/or at work because of cocaine use.
  • A person continues to use despite the recommendation of medical professionals and/or psychiatric professionals.
  • A person neglects activities that were previously enjoyed because of cocaine use.
  • A person has experienced a range of personal consequences directly linked to their cocaine use (financial, legal, interpersonal).
  • A significant amount of time is spent obtaining cocaine, using cocaine, and recovering from the effects of cocaine.
  • Physical tolerance is built over time.

Short-term effects of cocaine use include:

  • Feelings of intense pleasure and euphoria.

  • Increased heart rate.
  • Hypersensitivity to sight, sound, and touch.
  • Decreased appetite.
  • Agitation and irritability.
  • Sleeplessness/insomnia.
  • Increased anxiety/panic attacks.

Long-term effects of cocaine use include:

  • The development of physical and psychological dependence.
  • The building of physical tolerance (more of the substance is required in order for desired effects to be achieved).
  • The development of an anxiety disorder.
  • Compromised cognitive function (memory, ability to pay attention).
  • Ongoing cardiovascular issues.
  • Increased risk of stroke.
  • Impulse inhibition/increase in risk-taking behaviors.
  • Legal and financial issues.
  • The development of movement disorders (like Parkinson’s Disease).

Treatment Options for Cocaine Addiction

At Louisville Addiction Center we take a whole-person approach to cocaine addiction treatment, addressing physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health.

We provide various treatment options for cocaine addiction, including:

  • Trauma Therapy

Unresolved trauma and cocaine addiction often go hand-in-hand. We offer a trauma therapy program for clients struggling with unresolved trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

  • Holistically Based Therapy

At Louisville Addiction Center we believe healing must take place on a mental, emotional, and spiritual basis. We incorporate evidence-based holistic therapies into our treatment programs, including yoga therapy, mindfulness meditation, and creative/art therapy.

  • Individual & Group Therapy

Clients have access to individual and group therapy sessions at every level of care we provide. Individual therapy sessions allow clients to explore the reasons behind their cocaine use and dive deeper into personal blockages and challenges. Group therapy sessions are facilitated by a licensed therapeutic professional and cover a range of pertinent topics.

  • Family Therapy

The family plays an important role in cocaine addiction recovery. At Louisville Addiction Center we offer family therapy sessions to the loved ones of our clients. Family therapy helps rebuild healthy family dynamics, improves communication, and helps family members implement and maintain boundaries.

  • 12-Step Program Involvement

We encourage clients to participate in a 12-step program of their choosing. Additionally, we educate clients on the importance of working through the Steps.

  • Life Skills Training

During the IOP and OP levels of care, clients are transitioning back into independent living. Teaching life skills is crucial to making this transition as seamless as possible. We offer vocational training, educational placement services, and more.

The Levels of Care We Provide

At Louisville Addiction Center we offer three effective and flexible levels of clinical care. The best level of care for each client depends on their unique clinical needs.

Intensive Outpatient Program

Following PHP, Clients Might Need To Continue Treatment While Getting Back To Everyday Life. Our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) Offers Treatment For Several Hours Throughout The Week, Yet Allows Clients More Flexibility Than PHP. That Way, Clients Can Begin To Use The Skills They Learn While Tending To Other Obligations, Like Family, School, Or Work.

Partial Hospitalization Program

Our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) Is The Highest Level Of Care That We Have To Offer. During PHP, Clients Attend The Program Four To Five Days Per Week For Several Hours A Day. PHP Occurs During Daytime Hours, Which Is Why It Is Also Called “Day Treatment” In The Recovery Community.

Outpatient Program

The Outpatient Program During Louisville Rehab Is The Least Restrictive Program We Offer. Often, Clients Meet With A Therapist Or Group For About One Hour Per Week. Most Clients In Our Outpatient Program Have The Skills Needed To Stay Healthy Outside Of Treatment. Yet, They Still Need To Refine Their Recovery Skills In The Real World With Professional Support.

LAC is an amazing treatment facility. Truly a 5 * place for treatment. From ownership, leadership to general staff this place is incredible. The therapist, Techs and speakers are all first class. The housing, if doing PHP like I participated in was also perfect. I met so many incredible people. It’s unreal to be honest. I today this day still stay in contact with most residents who I attended with. Thank you LAC for not only all of your help but also continued support!!!

I had the opportunity to tour and attend the open house for Louisville Addiction Center on 2/22/23. As and individual in recovery and also working for SUD, I couldn’t be more impressed with the facility and approach that LAC is taking and offering those affected by substance abuse. If you or a loved one is struggling, this facility would provide the treatment, love and comfort your family member deserves.
