Five Benefits of Outpatient Rehab

There are many benefits of outpatient rehab, from convenience to therapy. The choice to get clean and sober is a big decision and should definitely be applauded. Understanding the options available to you at this time can help to make the choice that best suits you and the goals you wish to accomplish. Addiction to drugs and alcohol is a worldwide problem, and you are not alone. The best thing that you can do is seek help to overcome it.

The Difference Between Outpatient and Inpatient Rehab

During inpatient rehab, you are in a residential setting, you have staff available to you 24-7. Staff can address medical questions and concerns as they arise. When you step down to outpatient rehab, these medical concerns have become managed, and you require less medical supervision and are ready to begin maintaining a normal life, while still addressing the concerns associated with the addiction that brought you to rehab to begin with.

What is Outpatient Rehab?

Outpatient rehab is a level of care in rehab that can potentially allow you to live at home and maintain your normal, everyday life while still receiving drug and alcohol abuse treatment. There are mainly three types of outpatient treatment that are available, PHP, IOP and OP. Each of these has their own standards and can be fit to your specific needs. During each of these stages, you would live off campus, and return to the center to complete group and individual therapies during specific time frames.

Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP)

This level of care can provide a structured environment while also providing therapeutic care for those struggling with substance abuse issues. During 12>PHP treatment, you will be able to participate in treatment activities during the day five to six days per week and return home at night, unlike with inpatient residential treatment where you are participating in treatment activities and living in the same location. Essentially there is a separation between the location of care and where you will be sleeping at night.

Intensive Outpatient Programs(IOP)

During an 12>IOP program, it is less intensive than PHP but more intensive than OP. You would be attending groups three to four days per week for up to 3 hours a day, and then returning to your place of residence to maintain normal life. You’d be responsible for maintaining your life, for example cooking your own meals, laundry, and basically taking care of yourself and your household.

Outpatient Programs (OP)

12>Outpatient programs are the final step of a treatment program. You would still be attending groups, though less frequently, and receiving one on one therapy. However, this stage focuses more on improving and strengthening the skills you have learned so far, as well as implementing strong relapse prevention plans into your daily life.

What Are the Benefits of Outpatient Rehab?

There are many benefits of outpatient rehab that can be listed. The ones being listed are a few of the more prevalent benefits. Understanding that outpatient rehab is not as intensive as inpatient rehab is important. It can fit into your life, with minimal disruption, and help you maintain recovery while still being able to do what you normally would.

Privacy

Outpatient rehab provides privacy. The only way that people will know you are seeking help is if you tell them. You will see the professionals you need to see, such as therapists, psychiatrists, or a psychologist, not having to disrupt life and tell others.

Convenience

One of the benefits of outpatient rehab is that it fits your schedule. You can still work, go to school, and take care of family as you receive the much needed drug and alcohol treatment you want. You can still maintain your life, but at the same time get better. Drugs and alcohol have disrupted your life for so long, and having a plan that can help without hindering your life is highly beneficial.

Personalized Treatment Plans

Another of the benefits of outpatient rehab is that they can fit one’s specific needs. During outpatient rehab, you have more one on one care, where you can address and verbalize what you want and need.

Learning New Life Skills

Once drugs and alcohol are gone, people sometimes find themselves at a loss. They seem to have forgotten what a normal routine is. The benefits of outpatient rehab include learning these life skills that are vital to everyday life.

Affordability

Outpatient rehab is much more cost effective than inpatient, especially for those who don’t have health insurance but are in need of drug and alcohol abuse treatment.

What is Outpatient Rehab Like?

What is outpatient rehab like? Outpatient rehab is designed for those who require addiction treatment but also need the flexibility to maintain their daily responsibilities. This program typically includes individual therapy, group therapy, and educational workshops on addiction recovery. Clients can expect a structured yet adaptable schedule, allowing them to attend sessions several times a week without overnight stays.

The Louisville Addiction Center emphasizes a supportive and non-judgmental environment where clients engage in evidence-based therapies to address the root causes of addiction. The approach is holistic, considering not just the physical aspect of addiction but also the emotional, psychological, and social factors.

Additionally, clients have access to a network of support that includes counselors, healthcare professionals, and fellow clients in recovery. This combination of flexibility, comprehensive care, and a supportive community makes outpatient rehab at the Louisville Addiction Center a viable option for those seeking to overcome addiction while balancing the demands of their personal and professional lives.

LAC was great. I participated in the evening groups through zoom, which I originally had reservations about. Even though the meetings were online, they were still very engaging, informative, and personal. The therapist and case manager were incredible. They were both very authentic and supportive, and they were easily available when we needed them. I am very appreciative and grateful for this program.

LAC is an amazing treatment facility. Truly a 5 * place for treatment. From ownership, leadership to general staff this place is incredible. The therapist, Techs and speakers are all first class. The housing, if doing PHP like I participated in was also perfect. I met so many incredible people. It’s unreal to be honest. I today this day still stay in contact with most residents who I attended with. Thank you LAC for not only all of your help but also continued support!!!

I had the opportunity to tour and attend the open house for Louisville Addiction Center on 2/22/23. As and individual in recovery and also working for SUD, I couldn’t be more impressed with the facility and approach that LAC is taking and offering those affected by substance abuse. If you or a loved one is struggling, this facility would provide the treatment, love and comfort your family member deserves.
